Moderating a Workshop
Throughout the program, each group of mentees will be responsible for moderating one of the workshops in a roundtable format. See workshops marked as Student Moderated. The Proxima team will invite speakers for each of these workshops and handle communication by sending out calendar invites and preparing Zoom links for the meetings. The students, with assistance from the Proxima Team and mentors, will be in charge of:
- Researching the speakers: Who are they? What have they done? What are some interesting facts that can inspire questions?
- Sending information on the speakers and supplemental materials to scholars and associates to stimulate discussion.
- Communicating with scholars and associates to suggest questions you would like the speaker to answer during the event.
- Organizing the questions in a logical order and creating links that ensure a smooth flow between them.
- Developing the workshop schedule.
- Facilitating the workshop.
Mentors will assess the group’s progress closely and ensure that they have all the resources to plan a successful roundtable.
